Wythenshawe FC Women are delighted to announce the appointment of Samuel Cotterill as First Team Manager ahead of today’s game against Chesterfield.

Sam has spent this week getting to know the squad, leading training and speaking with the management team as he prepares for his first game in charge. Having previously worked with several of the players, he has also had the opportunity to reconnect with some familiar faces.

The current management team will remain in place, providing continuity and working alongside Sam to take the team forward.

Sam brings experience across women’s football, including coaching and assistant management roles with Stockport County Women, Cheadle Town Stingers, Halifax and Doncaster Belles.

Club Chair Carl Barratt said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Sam to Wythenshawe. This week has given him the opportunity to get on the training pitch, start getting to know the group and spend time with the management team ahead of today’s game.

“He’s worked with a number of the girls before, which gives him some good relationships to build on. We’re also pleased that the current management team will continue alongside him, bringing their knowledge of the squad and commitment to the club.

“We’re looking forward to supporting Sam and the team, and wish them every success as this next chapter begins.”

Speaking about his appointment, Sam said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed First Team Manager at Wythenshawe FC Women. A huge thank you to everyone at the club for such a warm welcome and for putting their trust in me. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the players, staff, supporters and wider community. I’m excited for what’s ahead, both on and off the pitch, and can’t wait to get started!”
