Everyone at Wythenshawe FC would like to congratulate Women’s First Team Manager James Mulvihill on his nomination for FAWNL Manager of the Year at the National Awards at Wembley Stadium
The nomination is a hugely deserved recognition following another outstanding season for the Ammies and continues the incredible progress made under James’ leadership over the last two years.
After competing in Tier 6 just two seasons ago, Wythenshawe FC Women have continued to rise at an incredible pace. In their first season at Tier 4 level, the side spent a significant part of the campaign sitting at the top of the table and competing with some of the strongest and most established teams in the country.
What makes the achievement even more impressive is the way it has been built.

As James himself reflected, part of the FAWNL judging criteria focuses on clubs that overachieve expectations based on areas such as budgets, facilities, recruitment capability and overall resources. Wythenshawe FC Women have consistently exceeded expectations across all of those areas, competing against clubs operating with far larger budgets and infrastructure.
But beyond results and league positions, James has become a huge part of the culture and identity of the football club.
He embodies everything that Wythenshawe FC stands for: hard work, togetherness, humility and community. The family atmosphere around the women’s team has become one of its biggest strengths, with James’ own family heavily involved in supporting both him and the squad throughout the journey. That connection between players, staff, families, volunteers and supporters is a huge part of what makes this group special.

The growth of the women’s side has not only raised standards on the pitch, but has helped strengthen the wider identity of the club as a whole.

James was quick to praise the people around him following the nomination, thanking his coaching staff, volunteers, media team, sponsors, board members and supporters for the role they have all played throughout the season.
He also highlighted the unwavering support of long-term partners such as Cardinal Global Logistics, alongside the backing of Chairman Carl Barratt and the club’s board.
From everyone at the football club, congratulations James on an incredible achievement and an unforgettable couple of seasons so far.
This recognition at Wembley is not only a reflection of the work being done within the women’s team, but of the continued growth, ambition and spirit running throughout the entire football club.
The journey continues. 🔵⚪️
