At the weekend, following Tuesday night’s six goal thriller, the Ammies made the journey up the M6 to face Charnock Richard as they looked to continue their strong run of form.
Wythenshawe made three changes to the starting eleven, with Bryan, Jerome and Darius all returning to the side.
The Ammies started on the front foot and created the first real opportunity of the game, with Aaron Dwyer testing the goalkeeper early on. Just minutes later he turned provider, setting up Brian Ly in the 4th minute for his 15th goal of the season to give Wythenshawe the perfect start.

Ly nearly doubled both his tally and the Ammies’ lead on 14 minutes, meeting a cross with a powerful header, but his effort was straight at the goalkeeper.
Charnock Richard began to grow into the game midway through the first half. A defensive scramble on 28 minutes saw Ryan Forde unable to fully gather the ball, conceding a corner as the hosts started to apply pressure and move the ball forward with confidence.
The pressure paid off in the 40th minute when Charnock equalised from a free kick, putting the Ammies under pressure heading into the closing stages of the half. However, Wythenshawe showed their resilience and responded in the best possible way, with Aaron Dwyer restoring the lead with a superb header on the stroke of half time to make it 2 1.

After the match, manager James Kinsey acknowledged the challenge his side faced.
“They are a really good team and they always carry a threat, so we knew we had to stay focused.”
The Ammies continued to press after the break, with Darius registering the first effort of the second half on 52 minutes with a strike from 25 metres. Dwyer continued to look dangerous, going close on 58 minutes before hitting the post two minutes later.

His performance was rewarded on 61 minutes when he grabbed his second goal of the afternoon and his 35th of the season to extend the Ammies’ lead to 3 1.
Charnock refused to give in and pulled a goal back with 10 minutes remaining to make it 3 2, setting up a tense finish. Wythenshawe showed their quality and determination to see the game through, with Henry Carne heading home on 88 minutes to secure a deserved 4 2 victory.

Kinsey was full of praise for his side’s mentality.
“That is a big result for us and I am really happy with it. We have taken maximum points and it is a brilliant result.”
He added that the focus now remains on maintaining standards.
“We just keep focusing on ourselves and what we are doing, and if we do that we know we can keep picking up results.”
A strong away performance and three more points on the road sees the Ammies continue their push as the season enters its decisive stages.
