Following the outcome of our appeal regarding the decision to place Wythenshawe FC Women’s First Team in the FA Women’s National League Midland Division for the 2026/27 season, naturally we are disappointed with the outcome.
Our appeal was made because we believed the lateral movement would have a significant impact not only on our Women’s First Team, but on the long-term development of women’s and girls’ football at Wythenshawe FC.
We felt the increased travel, additional costs and greater time commitments placed an unnecessary burden on our players, staff, volunteers and supporters, with the potential to affect recruitment, retention and the continued growth of our female pathway. We therefore felt it was important to represent the interests of everyone connected with our women’s programme, both now and in the years ahead.
Whilst we respect the outcome of the process, our focus now turns firmly to the season ahead.
Wythenshawe FC remains fully committed to the continued growth and success of our Women’s First Team and our wider women’s and girls’ pathway. The progress made over recent years has been exceptional, and our ambition remains unchanged.
Over the past three seasons, our Women’s First Team has achieved two promotions and a top-four finish, establishing itself as a competitive side at this level. Under the leadership of James Mulvihill, his coaching staff and an outstanding group of players, we have every confidence that this journey will continue.
We have complete faith in James, his staff and every member of the squad. They have consistently shown the character, resilience and togetherness that define Wythenshawe FC, and we know they will embrace the challenge that lies ahead.
As a club, we will provide them with every possible support, both on and off the pitch. We now ask our supporters to do the same. Your backing will be more important than ever as we embark on another exciting chapter in our history.
We look forward to competing in the FA Women’s National League Midland Division and representing Wythenshawe FC with pride throughout the 2026/27 season.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
