Wythenshawe Football Club is seeking an ambitious, experienced and inspirational Women’s First Team Manager & Head Coach to lead our FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands side.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Manchester’s most progressive community football clubs and play a key role in shaping the future of our women’s programme.

Following an outstanding period of success, including back-to-back promotions into the FA Women’s National League and a top-four finish at National League level, the club is looking for an exceptional leader to build on these strong foundations and continue driving the programme forward.

Our Women’s First Team competes in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands, supported by an ambitious committee, excellent facilities and a growing supporter base.

The Role

The Women’s First Team Manager & Head Coach will have overall responsibility for the football performance and development of the Women’s First Team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality training sessions.
  • Leading all first-team matchday operations.
  • Developing an attractive, competitive playing style.
  • Recruiting, retaining and developing players.
  • Managing and mentoring the first-team coaching staff.
  • Working collaboratively with the Club Committee to deliver the club’s long-term vision.
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive and high-performance culture.
  • Supporting the continued growth of the women’s programme and player pathway.
  • Representing the club professionally both on and off the pitch.

Essential Criteria

Applicants should possess:

  • UEFA B Licence (minimum).
  • Current FA Safeguarding qualification.
  • Current FA Emergency First Aid qualification.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain before appointment).
  • Experience coaching or managing within Tiers 3–5 of the Women’s Football Pyramid.
  • A proven ability to recruit, develop and retain players.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Availability to attend all training sessions and fixtures.

Desirable Criteria

  • UEFA A Licence (or actively working towards UEFA A).
  • Previous experience within the FA Women’s National League.
  • Experience of achieving promotion or competing for honours.
  • Established player recruitment network across the North West and Midlands.
  • Experience managing a multidisciplinary coaching team.
  • Understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the semi-professional women’s game.
