Manchester, 23 July 2025 — Cardinal Global Logistics has reaffirmed its commitment to community football by extending its sponsorship of Wythenshawe Football Club for a sixth consecutive year. The logistics firm will provide £30,000 in financial support for the 2025/26 season, further strengthening its partnership with one of South Manchester’s most dynamic grassroots football clubs.

Since the beginning of the partnership, Wythenshawe FC has experienced remarkable growth – expanding from 32 teams to 69, and now offering over 200 hours of football training to the local community every week. The club supports more than 1,100 players, from toddlers aged 3 to open-age squads, including a walking football team. Wythenshawe now competes in 14 different leagues across the region.
This sponsorship renewal arrives at a critical time as the club faces rising costs. Facility rental alone is projected to cost nearly £120,000 annually – up £12,000 from last year – not including rising expenses for staffing, maintenance, and utilities.
In 2024, Cardinal contributed £25,000 in sponsorship covering the foundation, and both the men’s and women’s first teams. For the upcoming season, their £30,000 pledge includes a £5000 boost for the women’s team, who will make history by competing in the Women’s National League, the equivalent of the men’s EFL Division Two. As a result, the club will be hosting likes of Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leeds United Town, and Stockport County in their next season.
The remaining funds will support 60 foundation teams, equating to £208 per team, to help subsidise subscription and facility costs during a real cost of living crisis for many players.

Carl Barratt, Chairman of Wythenshawe FC, praised Cardinal’s ongoing support:
“Over the years, the partnership with Cardinal has been vital to our success. The past five years have been incredibly tough for the community, and Cardinal’s contribution has helped subsidise subscription and kit costs. We’ve already supported around 50 players with these subsidies. With this additional support, we’ll continue to support more individuals and make an even greater difference in our community.”
Wythenshawe FC continues to build on its sporting achievements. Both the men’s and women’s first teams secured back-to-back championships in recent seasons.

Cardinal Global Logistics’ continued investment not only underpins the club’s operations but also reinforces its commitment to empowering local communities through sport.
