Wythenshawe Football Club are delighted to welcome Tom Schofield as our new first-team coach following his departure from West Didsbury & Chorlton last season.

The former midfielder has a wealth of non-league knowledge, beginning his career at Witton Albion and playing for several clubs, including Trafford, Colwyn Bay, AFC Bury, and Ramsbottom.

Tom has several accolades from his playing career. First, winning promotion with Witton, before repeating the feat with Trafford and adding the Manchester Cup as well.

Wythenshawe Manager Shane Goldrick is looking forward to working with Tom in our first-ever season in The Northern Premier League.

“I have known Tom since my playing days,” Shane said. “It’s good to bring in someone of his quality to our coaching team as he has lots of playing experience at this level and knows a lot about players and teams at these levels, so he will be invaluable to us.

“Tom has a great personality which will add to the Ammies family.”

Speaking on his arrival at the Hollyhedge Park Community Stadium, Tom said: “Firstly, I have to say I admire how well the club, players and management have done in the last few years, although having competed against Wythenshawe, it’s been hard not to respect the achievements so far.

“For me, at my age, I think it’s natural to start thinking about managing and coaching. I am grateful to the club and Shane for the opportunity to join the coaching team here.

“Hopefully, my experience in football can be useful in helping the club and team progress.”

Join us in welcoming Tom to the Ammies.
